ADC Owan West Intensifies Lobby to Bring Sir (Hon) Tunde Alex Ikhidero on Board

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Owan West Local Government Area has stepped up high-level consultations to bring on board one of the most influential political figures in the area, Sir (Hon) Tunde Alex Ikhidero, as part of its strategic drive to strengthen the party’s structure and grassroots reach, particularly in the Iuleha axis with strong emphasis on Eruere community.


Sir Tunde Ikhidero is widely regarded as a towering pillar in Owan West politics, whose experience, pedigree and political capital have continued to shape political conversations across the local government and the wider Owan federal constituency. A former aspirant for the House of Representatives, Sir Ikhidero’s foray into federal politics firmly positioned him as a leader with vision, courage and capacity to mobilise across wards and communities.


Hailing from the popular and respected Ikhidero family of Eruere, Sir Tunde commands organic loyalty and deep-rooted influence, especially within the Iuleha axis. His name resonates strongly among party faithfuls, traditional leaders, youths and opinion moulders, making him a strategic asset in any serious political realignment in Owan West.


Politically, Sir Tunde Ikhidero’s credentials are well established. He was among the pioneering leaders of the then Action Congress (AC) in the area, a party that later metamorphosed into the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and eventually the All Progressives Congress (APC) of today. His role in laying the early foundations of progressive politics in Owan West places him in a unique class of leaders whose relevance cuts across party lines and political generations.


Sources within ADC Owan West confirm that the renewed push to bring Sir Tunde Ikhidero into the party is not accidental. Rather, it is a deliberate and strategic decision, strongly encouraged by stakeholders at the federal level of the ADC, who have identified him as a leader capable of adding immense value to the party’s leadership architecture, electoral strength and grassroots penetration.


According to party insiders, consultations and negotiations are currently ongoing at a very high speed, involving key leaders, elders and stakeholders within and outside Owan West, with the sole objective of ensuring that Sir Tunde Ikhidero is adequately canvassed and persuaded to join the ADC family. The move is seen as critical to consolidating the party’s dominance in Owan West and repositioning it as the most formidable political force ahead of future electoral contests.


Many within the party believe that the entry of Sir (Hon) Tunde Alex Ikhidero into ADC would not only galvanise the Iuleha–Erure political bloc, but also send a strong signal across Edo North that ADC is steadily attracting tested, credible and battle-ready leaders committed to people-centred governance.


As negotiations continue, expectations remain high within ADC Owan West that the eventual decision of Sir Tunde Ikhidero will mark a major political milestone, further strengthening the party’s resolve to offer a credible, inclusive and progressive alternative for the people of Owan West Local Government Area and beyond.
