Chairman, Senate committee on Navy, Isah Hamman Misau, will on Tuesday, appear before the Senate interim committee to officially table his petition.
The Bauchi born senator, who is expected to appear before the committee at 2pm on Tuesday, is expected to address the committee and respond to questions from members of the probe panel.
Speaking with newsmen on Sunday, chairman of the adhoc committee and Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Francis Alimikhena, said, “Senator Isah Hamman Misau will appear before the committee on Tuesday to answer to questions that will come up after his presentation and therefore, we take the next step.”
Misau, in August, while the Senate was on a recess, made series of allegations against the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Ibrahim Magu. Parts of the allegations were that, the IGP siphoned over N120 billion generated by the Force in the last one year.
He also claimed that the IGP facilitated the promotion of some officers, contrary to the laid down procedures, set by the Police Service Commission (PSC). Misau also claimed that Idris impregnated a serving officer and hurriedly arranged a marriage ceremony in Kaduna State to save face.
The Federal Government has however sued Misau for allegedly making “injurious falsehood” against the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, and the chairman of the PSC, Mike Okiro, and the Nigeria Police in various newspaper publications.
