TINUBU TO EXIT APC WITH SOME GOVERNORS

An unconfirmed report by New Telegraph indicates
that nine governors under the platform of the APC
are mulling the idea of exiting the party ahead of
the 2019 elections.
According to the report, the rumoured exit of the
party stalwarts is expected to be more prominent in
the South-west and North-central regions of the
country.
Although no names were mentioned in the report,
there have been reports that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed is
dissatisfied with the APC leadership and might be
creating a new party. It is highly likely that his
supporters wold be the first to move to this party.
Here are some of them:

1. *Rauf Aregbesola*

Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola is the current governor of
Osun state. He was born on May 25, 1957. He
changed the name of the state from Osun state to
the state of Osun during the 2007 elections.
Although the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)
candidate Olagunsoye Oyinlola was declared the
winner, Aregbesola appealed the decision and on 26
November 2010 was declared the winner.
He has ruled Osun state for six years and while he is
an APC stalwart, he has proved to be a loyal friend
to APC chieftain Asiwaju Tinubu and will likely take
his side if it comes down to it.

2. *Akinwunmi Ambode*

Akinwunmi Ambode who was born on June 14, 1963,
is the current governor of Lagos state. He contested
in April 2015 and began his tenure as governor on
May 29, 2015, succeeding Babatunde Fashola.
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu being a former governor
of Lagos state has a great relationship with Ambode
and it is likely that he will show support to Tinubu if
a new party is to be created.

3. *Nasir Elrufai*

Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai is the governor of
Kaduna state and he has been known to switch
sides when it suits him. He might be one of those
governors who will switch away from the APC, when
something better catches his interest.

4. *Aminu Waziri Tambuwal*

Aminu Waziri Tambuwal who was born on January
10, 1966, is the current governor of Sokoto state. He
is an APC member, who represented the Tambuwal/
Kebbe federal constituency of Sokoto state.
He is likely one of those who will leave the APC if
Tinubu creates another party, this is because he was
formerly a member of the PDP, who exited when he
felt he had seen a better platform.
