Nelly Accused of Intimidating His Alleged Rape Victim

Days after Nelly was arrested in Washington state for allegedly raping a woman, he continues to declare his innocence both on Twitter and in private correspondence with prosecutors. But the alleged victim's attorney, Karen Koehler, believes the rapper went too far in his defense, insinuating he broke the state law by bullying and intimidating the young woman.
Koehler cites a portion of the letter from Nelly's attorney that calls the alleged victim "a person with an agenda" who is seeking "money, fame and notoriety," TMZ reports. In Koehler's response letter, she writes, "It is morally reprehensible for an accused person and his bully lawyer to issue derogatory and defamatory statements against a young alleged rape victim." She continues, "It is also criminal -- in the state of Washington -- when those vicious attacks are issued in the form of threats." Nelly was originally arrested on Saturday morning in Washington after a woman called 911 to report being sexually assaulted on his tour bus the previous night. The rapper, born Cornell Iral Haynes Jr., was released on Saturday without being charged, pending further investigation.
Nelly's attorney Scott Rosenbaum aggressively defended his client, telling the Associated Press in an email: "Our initial investigation clearly establishes this allegation is devoid of credibility and is motivated by greed and vindictiveness. I am confident, once this scurrilous accusation is thoroughly investigated, there will be no charges. Nelly is prepared to address and pursue all legal avenues to redress any damage caused by this clearly false allegation."
The rapper, who is currently on tour with country duo Florida Georgia Line, canceled his Saturday night appearance following his arrest. He is still on the road with the band and will perform on Thursday in Jacksonville, Florida.
