Bayelsa State Governor, Mr Seriake Dickson, on Wednesday confirmed the receipt of N10 billion from the federal government as its share of the second batch of the Paris/London Club refund. Dickson, who said that out of the money refunded, N919 million is meant for the eight local government councils, warned against misuse of the funds. He also directed the Commissioner for Finance, Maxwell Ebibai, to immediately release the money to enable them carry out their obligations, especially to clear some outstanding salaries. A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, said the governor made the confirmation at the Government House in Yenagoa when he hosted labour leaders in the state. The governor warned that the money for the councils should be properly utilised and not be shared by a few to further enrich themselves at the expense of the workers in their respective councils....the Unripe tomatoes governor remains dumb over Edo's share of the Fund

Sadly too, some rural dwellers have hooked onto the fad that wheat is a “healthy” food. Early this year, a middle-aged man from Ekiti State came to my office for solution to his health challenges – diabetes and high blood pressure. Upon enquiry on his diet, he said wheat was his major meal daily. According to him, virtually all the civil servants working at the state and local governments in Ekiti State also eat wheat as their regular...

Senator Kanti Bello is a former Senate Majority Whip, who represented Katsina North Senatorial District on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before joining the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), one of the legacies parties that formed the All Progressives Congress (APC). The reason is simple: this is our government and I contributed a lot for the government to be formed, both at the state and national level. I did it not for personal gain, but I thought it would be the government that would assist the ordinary people; a government that will turn round the economy. I am a very practical person. I thought that a government, ...
