From Ashes to Strength: Edo Will Not Bow to Political Terror
Prime News Desk.
Lagos .
Barely 24 hours after a cowardly, night-time attack on the ADC Secretariat—carried out by desperate elements who sneaked in under the cover of darkness—the Secretariat is back on its feet, stronger, brighter, and more alive than ever. What the attackers intended to silence has instead become a rallying point. Edo people are trooping into the office in large numbers to show solidarity, and party registration has more than tripled since the incident.
This singular fact exposes the truth: ADC cannot be intimidated.
What is playing out in Edo State today is not politics in its noble sense; it is the dangerous descent of politics into barbarism. When political competition mutates into arson, vandalism, and fear tactics, the ultimate victims are not parties—it is the people. If security agencies fail to act with fairness, courage, and justice, this spiral threatens to drag Edo State toward political anarchy.
Let it be clearly stated: the repeated attacks on ADC secretariats across the country are not coincidences. They are the visible symptoms of fear—fear of ADC’s rapid growth, acceptance, and resonance with Nigerians who are tired of hunger, inflation, and misrule. An administration that has presided over unprecedented economic hardship, rising food prices, deepening poverty, nepotism, and a collapse of public trust now finds itself obsessed with one thing: 2027.
Instead of governance, they choose intimidation.
Instead of accountability, they choose violence.
Yet history has taught us that when oppression meets popular awakening, repression only accelerates resistance.
What is even more telling is that voices from other political parties have openly condemned the failed arson attack. This is no longer an ADC issue alone—it is a democratic issue. Edo people will not keep quiet while illiteracy of power attempts to burn down civic spaces in the name of political survival. Democracy is not sustained by thugs; it is sustained by justice, fairness, and the will of the people.
There is an old saying often misused in political violence, but let this be clear: Edo people are not looking for war. However, no society can be expected to fold its arms while lawlessness reigns unchecked. The responsibility now lies squarely on the shoulders of the Nigeria Police and other security agencies. If they truly want peace, let them prove it—through arrests, thorough investigations, and diligent prosecution. Justice delayed or denied will only embolden more chaos.
Edo people are angry, disappointed, and deeply vexed. Politics must never become a license to terrorize communities or threaten lives and property. Those who believe they can burn down the future of Edo in the name of power should take note: the people are watching, history is recording, and accountability will come.
From ashes, ADC has risen—not with violence, but with renewed strength, courage, and popular support. Edo State stands at a crossroads. The choice is clear: justice and peace, or lawlessness and ruin. Edo people have chosen their side.
And they are not backing down. ✊
