Weed killer

Image
Weed killer Indian stoners face a moral crusade ▪︎Puritans fret that cannabis-crazed actors are corrupting the nation’s youth One might expect India to be at peace with marijuana. Before time itself, the god Shiva is supposed to have discovered the stuff. He sits high in a mythical Himalayan abode, eating gobs of it while pondering the mysteries of the universe; so do religious mendicants who emulate him today. Victorian India exported ganja to Jamaica with indentured labourers in the first half of the 19th century, long before the West surrendered to its mellow charms. But this monsoon season, moralists have raised the alarm: cannabis-crazed Bollywood stars are corrupting India’s youth. The Indian media went to war with the killer weed in September while the Narcotics Control Bureau (ncb) and other law-enforcement agencies rolled out a series of pretexts to hold Rhea Chakraborty, a Bollywood starlet, in jail for a month—ultimately for having procured marijuana for her boyf...

All the  lives lost are Nigerian and there was no need for any of them to have died. There is no  justification for anyone seeking to tribalize or sectionalize the protests and looting that  followed it. The protests are result of pent up fu...

Who is a Hoodlum

Image
Who is a Hoodlum? A hoodlum is someone born in abject poverty in a rural or urban setting, who could never afford a 3 square meal. At age 5, was already hawking on the streets and trying to earn his keep. A hoodlum was probably abused and exposed to constant threats in his neighbourhood. A hoodlum saw violence earlier than probably anyone would hope to. A hoodlum attended a public school once in a while when not on the streets hawking but had no teacher to teach him or was flogged for coming late to school. A hoodlum had no books in school and his home and school looked very much alike. A hoodlum hardly saw the walls of a secondary school and if he did probably dropped out without getting anything from it. A hoodlum had no mentors, got no words of encouragement, had no dreams and was unable to aspire to become a doctor, Lawyer or Banker. A hoodlum has had to be his own father and mother from a young age and fend for himself, resulting from time to time to crime sometimes as...

THE NEW NIGERIA POLICE FORCE ACT 2020

Image
*New Police Act, 2020* President Buhari on September 16, 2020, signed the new Police Act 2020 into law and this replaced the old Police Act, CAP P.19, LFN, 2004. Below are the highpoints of the new amendments that every Nigerian should be aware of: 1) Section 66(1) of the Police Act 2020, ONLY a Police Officer who is a LEGAL PRACTITIONER, can prosecute. Police Officer who is NOT a LEGAL PRACTITIONER cannot prosecute unlike the the Old Act that gave non-Police lawyers prosecutorial power. 2) Just like in the movies, Nigeria can now have private detectives who are not employed by the government. The Nigeria Police Force is responsible for vetting and approving the registration of Private Detective Schools and Private Investigative Outfits. See Sec. 4(i). 3) The Police is mandated to report the findings of its investigation to the Attorney General of the Federation or State as the case may be. See Sec. 32(1). 4) The Act prohibits the Police from arresting anyone based on a civ...

NIGERIA NOW WHAT IS NEXT ??

Image
The current situation in Nigeria 🇳🇬 has shown that Nigerians are capable of standing up for their rights just like any other nation in the world   the issues in Nigeria went out of hand as the state of corruption and extortion went well above  acceptable and considerable limits.  You cannot live in a nation where most of the basic institutions are out of control and being mismanaged by people put there to oversee affairs. Our electoral system has been battered and stolen million are being invested by aspirant to acquire power , millions of naira are used to compensate aspirants to make them step down from elections all over the country . This has made a complete mess of our national electoral process and thus less is expected from candidates that win elections.  Painfully the process now is that when you win elections here you are not yet guaranteed your vied office as your opponents now seek legal processes to upturn election results. Now we ask i...

#EndSARS Fake News: Nigerians in Diaspora seek withdrawal of statements by the United Nations, US*

Image
*#EndSARS Fake News: Nigerians in Diaspora seek withdrawal of statements by the United Nations, US* The Nigerians in Diaspora Monitoring Group (NDMG), Ohio, United States, have called on the United Nation, United States, United Kingdom and other nations to withdraw their statements that appeared to taunt the Nigerian government over the Lekki tollgate shooting.  With overwhelming evidence now rubbishing supposed massacre in Lagos State, the NDMG said it is logical for the international community to apologise to the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government.  The Nigerians in Diaspora Monitoring Group made this known in a statement signed by its President, Erasmus Kuti on Friday.  Like the rest of the world, the NDMG admitted that it reacted with disgust over the alleged shooting of peaceful #EndSARS protesters by the Nigerian Army.  However, it said that sentiment changed after the actual picture of the incident surfaced.  According to the group, the...

EDO STATE PDP SPECIAL PRESS RELEASE

Image
October 24, 2020 Press Release What Affects You, Affects Us. ... Save Edo from saboteurs The Edo state government warehouse in Medical Stores Road in Benin City used for the storage of some Covid-19 palliative materials as well as medical assets including vaccines, high-end equipment and other supplies has been broken into and its content looted. We are saddened. You will recall that Edo State Government has been in the forefront and got commendation from NCDC in its handling of the Covid-19 pandemic in the state. Apart from the robust policy of tackling the dreaded disease it put in place, EDSG distributed palliatives upon receipt of relief materials, to the vulnerable and poor population to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 crisis in the state especially during the period of the lockdown. Even recently, the government has been able to fall back on this strategic reserve in response to the plight of people displaced by flooding in parts of Etsako Central, Etsako East and...

He said the crisis in the state following the hijack of the #ENDSARS protests is politically motivated. The meeting had in attendance leaders and representatives of over 30 youth organisations in the state. Obaseki said: "I am worried about the level of criminality. Parts of the fight we had in our first term was the issue of maintaining law and order and fighting criminality as lots of these criminals hid under the cover of the godfathers who called them their infantry, lions and tigers. "With...

WOLE SOYINKA ON #ENDSARS PROTESTS

Image
DÉJÀ VU – In Tragic Vein By Wole Soyinka I arrived home from external commitments just over a week ago to an extraordinary homecoming gift. It took the form of a movement -- sometimes angry, sometimes entrancing, poignant, sometimes strident, certainly robust in expectations but always moving, visionary and organized. That movement demanded an end to brutality from state security agencies, focusing on a notorious unit known as SARS. But, of course, SARS merely stood for the parasitic character of governance itself in all ramifications. That dimension – albeit not in those very terms of course – was acknowledge by the first formal response of government, delivered through the Vice-President. The movement involved members of the Nigerian Bar Association, Feminist Groups, Professionals, Technocrats, Students, Prelates, Industrial institutions, and Artistes – writers, cineastes, actors, musicians. It was markedly a youthful movement, its energy, creativity and resolve diffused throughout t...

EDHA ASSURES EDO CITIZENS OF PEACE

Image
PRESS STATEMENT The attention of the Edo State House of Assembly has been drawn to a criminally inciting voice note that is being circulated in the social media which speaks of plans to burn down all public establishments in Edo state. While this would ordinarily have been considered a mere threat, it however aligns with the worrisome pattern of destructive activities perpetrated by hoodlums who have since hijacked the well - intentioned peaceful #ENDSARS protests by youths across Nigeria.      The House wishes to reiterate its support for the rights of citizens to freedom of speech, expression and peaceful assembly. But , as an arm of government, we have a constitutional responsibility to ensure the full protection of lives and livelihoods of Edo people.        The involvement of certain political tendencies in this dastardly and cowardly efforts at destablizing  the state must be resisted. The destruction of public and private property anywhere ...

Image
Davido, the well known Adeleke David who happens to be one of the most successful hip hop musicians in Nigeria publicly announce that he made a very terrible mistake working for MTN all because of the massacre that took place in Lekki Tollgate last night. Davido is so heartbroken. MTN Nigeria, a dominant and a very popular network provider in Nigeria dropped a post recently on Twitter and the post means alot Nigerians at this time of ENDSARS trial. Last night, many protesters where killed while so many of them where badly injured at Lekki Tollgate.  The saddest truth of the matter is that peaceful protesters had no weapon whatsoever, not even a gun, Cutlass, matchete or plank, all they were holding by the time of the incidence was just a Nigerian flag and a placard with various descriptions, mostly #ENDSARS. Men in uniform of Nigeria military were seen shooting live bullet at protesters, killed many and left lot of them injured and hospitalized. too. Though, Nigeria army claimed th...

Image
The governor has paid visits to the victims of Lekki shooting in hospitals. Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has ordered an immediate investigation into the shootings at Lekki, hours after he imposed a curfew in the state. Men dressed in military gear opened fire on unarmed protesters at the Lekki toll gate around 7pm on Tuesday, October 20, leaving many dead, injured and hospitalised. The lights and security cameras were turned off before the shootings began. "Members of the Nigerian army pulled up on us and they started firing. They were shooting, they were firing straight at us and a lot of people got hit. I just barely survived,"  says  Akinbosola Ogunsanya,  who was at the scene of the incident. The protesters have been  calling for an end to police brutality  since October 4; and had blocked the Lekki-Epe toll gate, Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge and other major roads in Lagos, while staging sit-in, candle-lit processions for victims of police brutality....
