A COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED BY NIGERIA ASSOCIATION OF WOMEN JOURNALISTS
(NAWOJ) EDO STATE CHAPTER AT THE END OF HER MONTHLY CONGRESS HELD ON OCTOBER
12, 2017.

1. Edo NAWOJ is worried about the insecurity situation in the state
and particularly unhappy with the kidnap of two prominent sons of the
state Mr. Andy Ehanire the husband of one of her members and a music
icon Ambassador Osayomore Joseph.

2. The women journalists urged security agents in the state to rise up
and intensify efforts to effect the unconditional release of the two
kidnap victims to their families.

3. Edo NAWOJ also called on the Federal Government/State Government
and the Inspector General of Police to assist the families of the
three policemen who were gruesomely murdered during the kidnap of Mr.
Andy Ehanire.

4. As the World mark The International Day of the Girl Child 2017 with
the theme “The Power of the Adolescent Girl: Vision for 2030”, NAWOJ
appreciated the state government for its laudable programmes in
support of the girl child and rural women in the state and urged the
governor to do more.

5. Edo NAWOJ called on Federal Government, Edo State Government, FERMA
Edo State and other relevant agencies to as a matter of urgency carry
out total reconstruction of the Benin-Auchi Okene Expressway as the
road is now in a tragic condition.
