Don’t give anyone your PVC, don’t show any agent your ballot after you vote – PDP

The PDP in Edo state yesterday cautioned members of the voting public across the state against giving out the number of their Permanent Voters, PVC, to some individuals who are now going about offering voters N10, 000 for anyone who is interested.

The Edo state deputy chairman of the party , Mr Emma Ogbomo, who said the new trend was part of the losing strategy of the APC in the state said they adopted the trick after the PDP punctured their purchase of PVCs .

Ogbomo gave this indication while addressing the members of the APC who joined the PDP yesterday at the campaign office of the PDP governorship candidate Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu in Benin City.

He said, “It is their new trick to ask people for the numbers of their PVC and then offer them money for the revelation. We advise people not to sell their numbers because they may not be able to use their voters card on Election Day”.

The event was when thousands of APC and UPP members from across the state led respectively by Frontline APC chieftain and former state chairman of the Butchers Association of Nigeria, Mr Sunny Omokaro and Mrs Patience Ehigiator, UPP state women leader dumped their parties and joined the PDP.

Receiving his PDP membership card from Mr Ogbomo, who represented the State Chairman , Chief Dan Orbih, Mr Omokaro promised to galvanize support of Butchers in the state for the election of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu as the governor of Edo state.

He said his decision to return to the PDP was based on the fact that he read his copy of the Simple Agenda by Ize-Iyamu and believes that it contains a credible and practical blueprint which he is sure can be efficiently implemented to elevate the state.

“I have read the copy of the Simple Agenda and I know that it has the potential to take Edo state to the next level. This is why I decided to leave the APC and rejoin the PDP”.

Commending Mr Omokaro for his bold decision despite all the intimidation and threats, the PDP candidate described him as a courageous and hardworking man  and a dogged fighter  who commands a large followership across the state.

He said the PDP does not discriminate adding Omokaro’s decision to stand where most of Edo People are standing at this time shows that he is a man who will not betray his conscience having been in the forefront of those committed to developing the state.

He promised if elected to improve the standard: of living of Edo people arguing that, “You will agree with me that the suffering in the state is terrible and the citizens are being harassed to pay taxes which monies is not going into the state coffers”.

In the same vein thousands of members of the UPP led by their state women leader Mrs Ehigiator who jumped boat and joined the PDP yesterday said they love the programmes of the PDP governorship candidate.

Mrs Ehigiator who spoke on behalf of the decampees said that their decision was informed by the fact that all over Edo state, voters are drumming up support for Pastor Ize-Iyamu who they see as the governor that will restore the glory of Edo.

She said she was ready to join other members of the PDP to mobilize more voters across the state to join the winning train of the PDP with Pastor Ize-Iyamu as the pilot.
