After a closed door meeting held yesterday at the PDP Governorship
campaign head quarters, the indications are strong that the PDP has put in
place positive measures to mobilize the youths all over the state towards
voting for PDP and checkmating any form of electoral malpractice by the
Oshiomole led APC.
The indications that the PDP is going all out to make sure
the 2016 governorship election in the state is free and fair is highlighted by
statements made by the PDP governorship candidate Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and
the partys Youth Mobilization chairman Hon. Daniel Asekhame. Earlier in the
week Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu stated at the ongoing Civil Society Interactive
Session with Gubernatorial Candidates holding at Bishop Kelly Pastoral Centre, Benin City that “This
election cannot be rigged. This election cannot be rigged. We will defend our
vote and the people’s mandate.”
In the same vein Hon. Asekhame told Vanguard that the PDP
has mechanism in place to checkmate the APCs rumored plans to rig the duo of
Obaseki and Shuaibu into the goverenors office in the 2016 elections in the
state. Quoting him “if the APC involves itself in any hanky panky in the
forthcoming elections, there will be an adequate PDP response to negate such
nefarious activities. Obaseki and Shuaibu will not be voted into power in Edo state by foul means. All Edo state youth should be
alert and guard their mandate jealously as the APC apparently aware of their
unpopularity in the state and are sure to lose the coming election are
desperately planning on unhinging the peace in the state”.
