Fanta, Sprite Not Fit For Consumtion  - Benson Idahosa Varsity.  Faults NAFDAC on clearance to consume   BENSON Idahosa University, BIU, Benin City, Edo State, has faulted the Federal Government’s clearance that Fanta and Sprite beverages were good for consumption,  insisting that the information or data provided by the government on the beverages fell short of addressing the safety concerns raised in court. It will  be recalled that a Lagos High Court had ordered the National Agency for Food Drug  Administration and Control, NAFDAC, to compel the Nigeria Bottling Company, NBC, the manufacturer of Fanta and Sprite, to include a written warning label that the content of the two products should not be taken with Vitamin C. However, at a media briefing held in the institution, some scientists at the BIU, led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ernest Izevbigie, raised concern over the clean bill of health g...

DSS Nails Corrupt Magu’s Coffin In A Final bomb: Why He Cannot Be Trusted For High Office The Department of State Services, DSS has given further justification for its opinion to the presidency on why the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC Mr. Ibrahim Magu should not have been confirmed for the position. Director-General of Department of State Service, DSS, Mr Lawal Daura The DSS in a letter to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami said Magu’s poor sense of judgment and willingness to compromise official documents for personal interest betrayed the high level of integrity that should be watchword of the holder of such office as EFCC chairman. The letter was a follow up to the security report earlier submitted to the presidency and the Senate which formed the kernel for the Senate’s refusal to screen Magu last December. The letter backing the documents was in response to an earlier letter by the A...

Soldiers Working For The Presidency Kill Pupil, Injure Others While Rescuing Herdsmen One of the bullets reportedly fired by soldiers attached to 707 Special Forces Brigade in Makurdi, Benue State, has killed a secondary school pupil, identified as Ayew Atume. It was gathered that Atume, a resident of Jato Aka in the Kwande Local Government Area of the state, was having a lunch in his parents’compound after returning from school on Tuesday when the stray bullet hit him. He reportedly died at the spot. Some members of a vigilance group in the community had intercepted a car conveying some suspected Fulani herdsmen. The security guards were said to have found arms in the vehicle, which made them to detain the occupants. A resident, who did not give his name, said the herdsmen alerted soldiers in the Kashimbila area of the state, who raced to the scene and allegedly freed the men, shooting continuously. In the process, one of the bullets killed Atume. ...

Certificate: ABU makes a U-turn, keeps mum on Melaye

Certificate: ABU makes a U-turn, keeps mum on Melaye The Afenifere Renewal Group (ARG) wednesday rejected the outcome of an investigation the Nigeria Police conducted on the Yoruba-Hausa clash that claimed at least 46 lives in Ile-Ife, Osun State. Consequently, the ARG, a pan-Yoruba socio-political group, asked the Osun State Government to constitute a judicial commission of inquiry to investigate the immediate and remote causes of the clash. The group canvassed this position in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kunle Famoriyo, describing the report of the Nigeria Police as one-sided, unjust and predetermined. On March 7, precisely, the clash had erupted between Yoruba and Hausa traders in the Sabo area of Ile-Ife in Osun State, which according to reports, claimed at least five lives on the first day. The clash, which subsequently claimed 46 lives with 98 seriously wounded, broke out after a vehicle driven by a Yoruba man hit the wife of a Hausa...

You Have Failed Governor El-Rufai Warned President Buhari In 30-Page, 2016 Memo Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai in September 2016 sent a powerful memo to President Muhammadu Buhari arguing that their party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has made the situation in Nigeria worse than it met it by failing to be proactive in taking key decisions in a timely manner, SaharaReporters has learned. “In very blunt terms, Mr. President, our APC administration has not only failed to manage expectations of a populace that expected overnight ‘change’ but has failed to deliver even mundane matters of governance outside of our successes in fighting BH insurgency and corruption,” he said in the 30-page memo, which was a follow-up to an earlier one he sent to the president. “Overall, the feeling even among our supporters today is that the APC government is not doing well,” he declared, before proceeding to an analysis of the key areas: Politics, National Economy and Govern...

Again, Senate Rejects Magu as EFCC Chair, Says He is Clogging Up the Court System and Want to Kill Nigerian Democracy -  He Should Cease to Act as EFCC Chair Exactly three months after he was rejected by the Senate to have him confirmed as the substantive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu suffered the same fate on Wednesday when the Senate declined to confirm him for the second time, citing a damning letter by the Department of State Services (DSS) as reason for the decision. The Senate also said Magu should cease to act as the chairman of the anti-graft commission and a replacement should be sent by the president for confirmation. The letter of the DSS dated March 14, 2017, which was almost similar to the first one that led to his rejection last December, indicted him for corruption, living a double life, and concluding that Magu lacks the integrity and was not fit for the purpose to head the EFCC.  DSS main...

Tinubu’s Presidential Ambition and The Sinking Boats - Godwin Etakibuebu

Image
Tinubu’s Presidential Ambition and The Sinking Boats - Godwin Etakibuebu   TYPICAL politicians have the capability of speaking from both sides of their mouths at the same time without accident occurring. For the ardent and stunt politician, morality is a very scarce commodity. In whatever and whichever classroom the astute Nigerian politicians gathered as students to receive tutorial, there can never be found one single “holy man” because “in the classroom of politics angels are never students”. May be, it is for these and more reasons that politics is referred to as a “dirty game”, at least in the Nigerian parlance. Yet, the Nigerian politicians go around doing what they know how to do best – deceiving themselves, with the conviction that they are deceiving the people. Again, it is in attempt to achieve their games of deceit that they must speak from both sides of their mouths. The older in the game of politics a Nigerian politician becomes, the more is his fluid...

Obaseki to return ‘Oshiomhole Police’ to Benin, may change the name and uniform

Image
Obaseki to return ‘Oshiomhole Police’ to Benin, may change the name and uniform Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has revealed that plans are already in place to return nonconventional traffic monitors to Benin and eventually throughout Edo State. The traffic monitors under former governor Adams Oshiomhole and Obaseki as economic adviser, was Edo State Traffic Management Agency (EDSTMA) nicknamed “Oshiomhole Police” and they were largely untrained, unscrupulous and a menace to road users in Edo state, especially the state capital. Due to pressures from citizen of the state, and in preparation for election year, the APC government disbanded the traffic monitors on Wednesday February 17, 2016 claiming they were an unnecessary waste of public funds and became a menace. But barely a year after, the same APC government has decided to return the menace to the streets, although this time, it is believed, the name and uniform is expected to change to a shade of gr...

IZE-IYAMU TO COURT- DECLARE ME WINNER AS APC’S LAWFULL VALID VOTE IS 130,696 WHILE PDP POLLED150,672. PASTOR OSAGIE ANDREW IZE-IYAMU, THE GOVERNOR-IN-WAITING. Some members and supporters of APC have gone viral with the rumour that according to the ELECTORAL ACT 2010 (AS AMENDED 2015), Pastor Osagie Andrew Ize-Iyamu cannot be declared winner of the 2016 Edo Governorship Election even when he is able to successfully prove his allegations of non-compliance with provisions of the Electoral Act and the 2016 INEC Manual. They are of the erroneous belief that the worst that can happen is for the election to be nullified and a rerun ordered. How far they are from the truth. The 2010 Electoral Act as amended 2015 is very explicit on the issue. Read this: NULLIFICATION OF ELECTION BY TRIBUNAL OR COURT SECTION 140 (1) Subject to subsection (2) of this section, if the Tribunal or the Court as the case may be, determines that a candidate who was returned as elected was not validity elect...

Impeach Yar' adua now --- Buhari 7 yrs ago

Impeach Yar'Adua now - Buhari (Exactly 7 years ago) http://www.urhokpotareporters.com/?p=6217 Karma is a bitch. Today makes it exactly 7 years since General Muhammadu Buhari (as he then was) made this cold and calous statement, as published in a national daily (not Urhokpota Reporters), against then ailing President Umaru Yar'Adua because he was ill and indisposed. Yar'Adua was ill but was honest about it. He didn't call his illness medical vacation or annual leave, he simply said he was ill. Buhari 'ordered' the National Assembly to impeach Yar'Adua simply because he had his eyes on on the presidency. Buhari's statement was devoid of milk of human kindness, emotion or feelings for the family of Yar'Adua, for Nigerians, for Muslims and even for Christians who didn't pray for Yar'Adua to die because they loved him even though Yar'Adua was a Muslim, unlike today.  So, Babachir should be informed that some Nigerian Christians ...
