Old gold found

Intricate jewellery found buried in a Staffordshire field is the earliest example of Iron Age gold ever found in Britain. The collection, made up of four twisted metal neckbands, called torcs and a bracelet, was discovered by two metal detectorists just before Christmas. Experts say they would have been owned by wealthy powerful women who probably moved from continental Europe to marry rich Iron Age chiefs. The pair who discovered the find had swept the field 20 years earlier and uncovered nothing. But after abandoning a fishing trip to go treasure hunting they came across the horde, which could be worth hundreds of thousands of pounds. The torcs were buried nested together and archaeologists believe they may have been buried for safekeeping, or as an offering to a God, or an act of remembrance for someone who had died. The collection of gold jewellery found in Staffordshire Unveiling the torcs at a press conference on Tuesday experts said the unique find could date back as fa...

EDO STATE TRIBUNAL UPDATE

Image
BY OSAZE JESUOROBO DAY 4 AT EDO STATE GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION TRIBUNAL SITTING. SUMMARY. The 2nd Respondent, Godwin Obaseki continued his defence yesterday, Monday 27 February, 2017. At yesterday's sitting, the word simultaneously crept up again in the testimonies of the 2nd Respondents witnesses. Last week, when the Petitioners counsel through the cross examination of 2RW06 proved at the tribunal that there was no word like "Simultaneously" in the Supplement to the 2015 Manual for Election Officers, the Respondents counsel changed from simultaneously to continuous. However, the word simultaneously, like the cat with nine lives, refused to die as it crept up again at yesterday's sitting. Under cross examination by INEC Counsel, virtually all witnesses yesterday agreed that the accreditation and voting were done through continuous process. However, under cross examination by the Petitioners Counsel, they said accreditation and voting were done simultaneously. 2RW27, ...

UPDATE ON BUHARI’S HEALTH MATTER

Image
Buhari's health update: SaharaReporters has learned from reliable sources at the Nigerian Presidency that President Muhammadu Buhari, who has been in the UK since January 19, is receiving “intense treatment” for a renewed flare-up of prostate issues. He had undergone surgical treatment for prostate cancer soon after losing the 2011 presidential election to former President Goodluck Jonathan. In addition to his UK doctors, President Buhari has been under the care of two Nigerian physicians, Dr. Suhayb Sanusi Rafindadi, who is his Chief Personal Physician, and Dr. Ugorji Ogbonna, who had a medical practice for many years in Kano before relocating to the UK. Even though he is from the southeast of Nigeria, Dr. Ogbonna is very close to numerous powerful northern politicians, and one of his sons converted to Islam, according to a source. While Dr. Rafindadi accompanied the president on his medical trips abroad and Dr. Ogbonna often liaise with Mr. Buhariʼs physicians in the UK to ...

NEWS NUGGET-  The president has a deadline of February ending, says Adegboruw • He Is Entitled To Only Sixty Days Annual Leave Human rights activist and lawyer, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa said President Muhammadu Buhari is entitled to 60 days annual leave, and as long as he has not exhausted the leave, the controversy over his absence not necessary. He spoke to GODWIN DUNIA. How long can the President stay away from office? Legally, the President is entitled to 60 days annual leave from 2015 to 2016. If he has not exhausted this leave prior to this time, he is entitled to his annual vacation. But I am aware that the President has in times past, enjoyed part of his annual leave, in 2016, when he first traveled for alleged ‘ear infection’. As it is now, the President has not disclosed to Nigerians that he is on annual leave, but what he did was to convert his annual leave to medical leave, which he has now stated to be indefinite. Generally, the Senate should not allow the Pr...

UMAR TATA ---------Declares that ailing President Muhammadu Buhari was poisoned.

Image
AN OPEN LETTER TO THE DG DIRECTORATE OF STATE SECURITY SERVICES (DSS) Sir I wish to draw your attention to the new dangerous twist to the unfortunate sickness of President Muhammadu Buhari being falsely perpetrated in our mosques which has the tendency to create serious anarchy in Katsina state. Today Friday 24 February, 2016 at the Izala mosque, popularly called General Tsiga mosque on Katsina road in Funtua local government, the Imam, during the jumuat sermon, apologized to the congregation for coming late. This, according to him, was because he was just out of a state meeting of the Izala sect in Katsina where they were accordingly informed and directed to inform all Muslims that the sickness of President Buhari was as a result of poisoning. According to the Imam, malam Nasir Abdurrahman, Buhari was poisoned by those close to him because he has amassed over N70 trillion and they want to steal it. To steal it they must kill him and that was why they poisoned him. This to him cou...

The musician stated that the late South Africa President, Nelson Mandela, should be blamed for the xenophobic attacks. Seun made his feelings known in a Facebook post on Friday. He wrote: “Hey Black South Africans aren’t you ashamed of yourselves? Has your spirit of revolution completely destroyed by your rudderless ANC to the extent that you have become cowards who bully fellow Africans? Fellow Brothers?” “Ok answer me this. If every Nigerian is deported out of South Africa there will be no more crime in South Africa? There will be no more injustice and inequality? Mandela once again thanks for your rainbow nation. Thanks for teaching your people to love whites but forgot to tell them to embrace blacks.” @...

" you can vote without accreditation " ___Apc witness tells tribunal

Image
Tribunal Update~ You can vote without accreditation, another Obaseki’s witness misfired  ‎ Clement ‎Obazee is the second witness  to mount the witness box today for Godwin Obaseki but he threw the Tribunal into daze when he said you don't have to be accredited before voting. But the APC counsel had earlier caused an uproar in the Tribunal when he asked Clement obaze "was 242 not the accredited votes in your unit?, to which the witness replied "Yes". Upon realising that he has made a blunder, he quickly sought to correct it by saint I meant to say 245 and the petitioners counsel, Emmanuel Ukala SAN opposed the correction and prayed to court to first record the response of the witness, which the court waved aside.  However, Clement Obaze's assertion that one can vote without accreditation underscores the fraud perpetuated in the polling units where APC won. ‎

Apc amaze tribunal with fake witnesses

Image
By Osaze Jesuorobo The Edo State Governorship Election Tribunal resumed sitting yesterday with the 2nd Respondent, Godwin Obaseki opening his defence. In all, 12 witnesses testified for the 2nd Respondent at yesterday's sitting. Under cross examination by the various counsel to the respondents, all the witness testified that the 2016 governorship election was free and fair. All of them but one also testified that they never saw PDP unit agents or collation agents in their units. However, things began to fall apart for then when Mallam Yusuf Ali, SAN, the Petitioners lead counsel who conducted  the cross examination in the morning session took the witnesses to the carpet. 2RW1, JIMOH OSAGIEDE JUSTICE, confirmed from the register of his unit shown to him that while his name was ticked only to the left, five others were ticked to the left and to the right. When asked what that meant, he said he did not know as he was not an INEC staff. 2RW2, OROBOR AUGUSTINE, when asked to...

My new personality

Image
One week to Lenten season, what are you going to fast and abstain from? I have suggestions: 1. No more pride... This period I will try to be more humble. 2. Less wasteful... I must try to finish my meal. No more unnecessary spending. I shall try not to elongate my shower time in order to conserve water. 3. Acts of charity... Is there any way I could help the Poor this period? Yes there are some many ways. Some privileges have to be sacrificed. 4. Gossip... I may say that I don't gossip. Instead of keeping to myself, I will challenge you in brotherly love. 5. Habitual Sins...  I will make more effort to nail them to the cross of Christ this period. 6. Drunkenness...  Can I be brave enough to tell myself that I will not get drunk this period? 7. More prayerful...  Before I used to pray only when I have bad dreams, when I am in need, once a while. But during the Lenten period I will make prayer a habit. 8. I don't often go to the sacrament of penance and reconciliati...

Democracy of Corruption in Nigeria

NEWS NUGGET-  RiversRerun On Saturday 25th Feb  APC, ARMY and INEC at it again  Nigerian army takes over  INEC office at Etche, as the building is presently barricaded by over 700 heavily armed men of the Police and Army.  They have denied Mr Andrew Njokwu who is the PDP agent access into the office to inspect the sensitive electoral materials. REFLECTION- NASS, Nigerian are tired of what our election have become under APC. We are tired of the brutality and violence perpetuated in mandate theft. It is going on because NASS is quite not protecting the Nigerian citizens. When has NASS summoned INEC CHAIR n Security Agents to explain their roles in previous election? Why is the INEC committee saddled with over sight functions not in Rivers for tomorrow and observe. If anything to put INEC on notice. It's gotten worse because NASS have allowed it. No over sight. No repremend for action. INEC and SECURITY Agents do as they like and nothing happ...

Abdul Oroh cries out on human rights organisations

Image
Amnesty International  has alleged in its latest report that 150 Ipob members were killed and buried in shallow  graves by soldiers at Onitsha, Anambra  State.  What are the names of the victims? How many are men, women and children? Do they have families?  What was the response of the Anambra State Government which  includes the state House of Assembly?  What of the church leaders, local civil society leaders, community leaders? What do they know? Can Ipob leaders  help by providing  the names and if possible, photographs of the victims? Photographs are possible in this information age. Where there  phorensic examination of the bodies? Who carried out the post mortem investigation?  Who counted the bodies? Where are the graves?  We need answers to these specific questions from Amnesty International and corroboration by Nigerian Human rights organisations.

Buhari and apc propaganda

Image
S H A M E F U L ! ! !  BUHARI AND APC'S PROPAGANDA AND LIES BLOW ON THEIR FACE- As THE GUARDIAN And Others Begin To Retract FALSE STORY!It is no more news that the All Progressives Congress (APC) officially lied about the location of General Buhari’s interview for the TV show ‘All Eyes on Africa’ with Kemi Fadojutimi of the USA-based TV show ‘All Eyes on Africa’.While the APC had earlier claimed that the interview was conducted in London, many Nigerians are now aware of the TRUTH. In 41 tweets posted on his timeline on Sunday, February 22, 2015, Mr. Dan’Iyan (@AyeDee), proved to the whole world that the interview under review, which the APC led Nigerians to FALSELY believe was conducted in far away London, United Kingdom, was actually carried out here in Abuja at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel.”What is now NEWS is that despite desperate attempts by the APC propaganda machinery to offer more money and coerce newspapers from retracting the FRAUDULENT picture story of Buhari’s purporte...

Apc witnesses testify against Obaseki

APC opens case at tribunal on wrong foot, their two witnesses testify against Obaseki The Justice Badamosi led Edo State Gubernatorial Elections Petition Tribunal sitting in Benin City continues hearing today in the matter of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu (POI) and the People's Democratic Party (PDP), on the one hand and Mr Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki (Obaseki), the All Progressives Party (APC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on the other hand. The All Progressives Congress opened her case today calling witnesses to support their argument that the election was credible. Unfortunately two of the witnesses that the APC called discredited themselves and indicted the election by their testimonies. Obaseki’s First witness, from Ward 5, Unit 24 of Oredo LGA said that he voted during the September 28 election but when he was given the voter register in the unit where he claimed to have voted, his name wasn't found on the register. Yet, he insisted that he v...

Osinbajo and those who ‘run to London’

Image
Let the Presidency say whatever it will, those who think they love President Muhammadu Buhari more than all of us will undermine, perhaps even attempt to encumber Acting President Yemi Osinbajo at every bend. They will deploy the abundant resources allegedly at their disposal  in a media centre to weaken the foundation of the progress that the Acting President seems to be making in rebuilding the confidence of Nigerians, but they will be too timid to own up to their devices.  Nigerians should however be familiar with these antics. We have travelled this path before as a country and should be accustomed to the tendencies of those who share the leader’s political kitchen to overreach in furtherance of their “loyalty” to the principal. In societies where public office is service to the people, loyalty is first to the state. When public interest is prime, influential political appointees do a huge favour to their benefactors, they determine the legacies of the...

Ex-President Jonathan Denies Endorsing Ali Modu Sheriff As PDP National Chairman During Visit

Image
In continuation of discussions with the various stakeholders and organs of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday met with members of the party’s ministers’ forum. The meeting which was held at his Maitama residence in Abuja was well attended. The former president while reacting to media reports during the meeting said the party is not factionalised, adding that he did not endorse the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff group. He said, “We are solving our problems. There are bound to be differences in politics. It is the way we resolve these differences that makes us human beings and that is what makes us leaders. “We are not factionalised, we are one.  I have met with Sheriff, I will meet with others, so that we will be able to do what is expected of us as a political party.” Speaking with newsmen after the meeting, a former minister in the party said,  “We just concluded. GEJ in his continuous discussion w...

President’s Test Results Require Him to Stay Longer in UK

Image
The fears of many Nigerians were confirmed yesterday when the presidency revealed that the results of the medical tests undertaken by President Muhammadu Buhari in the United Kingdon would require him to remain in London for longer than anticipated. This was contained in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina. “During his normal annual check up, tests result showed he needed a longer period of rest, necessitating the president staying longer than originally planned,” Adesina said. The results of the tests were however not made public. Adesina, in a statement he issued on February 5, had said that Buhari was compelled to extend his stay back in the UK in order to complete his medical tests as recommended by his doctors. But yesterday, Adesina said the president thanked millions of Nigerians who had been sending goodwill messages and praying for his health and well being in mosques and churches throughout the country...

Buhari vs Osinbajo: Same party, different attitudes to power

Image
Azuka Onwuka Last weekend marked one month since President Muhammadu Buhari wrote the Senate that he was proceeding to the United Kingdom for “medical vacation.” By the expiration of the leave on February 6, he wrote to the Senate again, stating that he would be absent indefinitely. In his absence, the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has been the Acting President. Osinbajo has not shared any money to the masses; he has not declared any bonus for Nigerians; he has not saved Nigerians from any foreign aggression; the naira has not strengthened under his watch; neither has the inflation rate dropped. However, something has happened in the one month Buhari has been away. The air of antagonism in the nation has abated between the winning party and the opposition. Unlike Buhari who rarely visits the states he governs, Osinbajo has been going round the country and feeling the pulse of the people. In addition, unlike Buhari who seems to feel at ease with only those he bel...
